The station is only a few miles from the upstream end of the Alapaha River Water Trail at Sheboggy Landing (US 82).

The station is the original train station in Alapaha, GA, where they have a big festival every year, with a parade Saturday morning, live bands, food vendors, arts and crafts, motorcycle ride, etc.
